Henry & Gouloff - Should Resign Or Be Fired

With yesterday's filing of bankruptcy by Kitty Hawk there should be no question left that Mayor Richard should ask both Jerome F. Henry, Jr., and Michael S. Gouloff to resign from the Fort Wayne Allen County Board of Aviation. Both of these men where appointed to the board by Mayor Richard

Henry and Gouloff also serve as board members of Tower Bank. The bank has in their investment portfolio, which in part includes some 12,400 shares of Kitty Hawk stock, as of September 30, 2007. The bank has owned these shares for at least two years.

No longer can Henry and Gouloff serve the best interest of both Tower Bank and the residents of Allen County. In serving the best interest of Tower Bank may force them to consider moving Kitty Hawk operations from Fort Wayne International Airport. If Kitty Hawk would leave the airport, the remaining multi million dollar balance, of the property taxed guaranteed bond would fall on the local property owners.

As I stated on Dan's blog regarding the bankruptcy, there are TWO other carriers that fly into FWIA:
ARROW cargo
CENTURION cargo

There's your competition for Kitty Hawk.

They are based in Miami and CENTRAL AMERICA, fly older modified MD11s and DC10s (which accounts for the "need" by the airport authority to raise taxes for ANOTHER parallel runway to the current 2-3 (north/south)

Makes me wonder what kind of "tax abatements" THESE two carriers got ...and how much of it WE'RE paying (and will keep paying for)?

Bobby,

From first pass it appears Centurion is part of United Parcel Service (UPS). It was bought by them in 1999. If Centurion is still configured as before they mainly fly to Latin America. They carry seafood, flowers, and veggies to US markets.

UPS has been on the Fort Wayne air scene for a great many years.

Arrow Air is part of Arrow Holdings, Inc. They fly heavy freight to Central and South America. Areas that Kitty Hawk currently have much of a presents. So they may be working with Kitty Hawk in moving freight to those areas of the world.

If that is true, then if Kitty Hawk disappears from Fort Wayne the chances of Airrow disappearing could be real.

I will continue to research this and provide you with any updates or corrections to what I have posted.
