South Bend Kicks Fort Wayne AGAIN!

South Bend is cheaper to fly from then Fort Wayne and now they pull off a better deal on a downtown hotel. There just seems to be no end of them showing up Fort Wayne! Maybe that is where the Fort Wayne "brain drain" moved to.

Yep, South Bend is landing a 200 room hotel right across the street from their Century Center. The Century Center is the same as our Grand Wayne.

Currently the Century Center is serviced with a connecting Marriott. The connection is by a overhead walkway.

The new hotel will be a "select service" operation. Just like the one proposed for Fort Wayne, under the Courtyard by Marriott brand.

Included in the package is a 210 space parking garage, with 150 of the spaces being available to the public from 8 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. weekdays. The City will own the parking garage and lease it to hotel owners.

The City of South Bend will commit $3.7 million into the parking garage. They sold the hotel property to the new hotel owner for $1.00.

I am not going to spend the time showing how are so called City Leaders buried us in our deal. Mr Mayor, could explain how South Bend pulled this off and we could not?

White Lodging Services is involved in the South Bend project, and they are not demanding a walkway to the convention center. Then again, it is not 11:59 and time to break out the "deal breaker!" Of course they don't have a Embassy Board of Directors group sticking their hand out.

Here are two sites to read about how South Bend kicked Fort Wayne's rear again. Gosh, maybe that is where Fort Wayne's "brain drain" has gone!
